Sadoun Jaber, a prominent Iraqi artist known for his unique style, recently revealed a fascinating detail about his heritage: his family’s roots trace back to Saudi Arabia.

During a recent interview, Jaber, who was born in Halfaya, southern Iraq, shared details about his family history. He explained that his family, originally from the Khazraj tribe, migrated from Saudi Arabia centuries ago in search of better opportunities.

“It’s a captivating coincidence,” Jaber said. “Halfaya is home to the Khazraj tribe, who were displaced from Saudi Arabia. Some tribes went to Yemen, others to the Levant, and a group, including my ancestors, came to Iraq.”

Jaber’s family settled in Aram, a city near the Bani Lam tribe. The Khazraj and Bani Lam formed a strong alliance, eventually merging into a single tribal entity known as the Bani Lam.

“My fifth or sixth grandfather was a member of the Khazraj tribe, but he allied with the Bani Lam,” Jaber explained.”we originally came from Taif and moved to southern Iraq, living alongside the Bani Lam. That’s how I became sadoun Jaber al-Lami al-khazraj.”

Expressing pride in his heritage, Jaber stated, “I am of Saudi origin, and I am honored by this lineage. My family is in Iraq, and we are sons of Lam, sons of Shem and Ham. My father’s name is Jabar, not Jabir. I am Sadoun Jaber al-Lami al-Khazraji, Saudi, and this I am honored from the great land.”

Jaber’s revelation sparked conversations about the complex history of migration and tribal alliances in the Middle East.
