Ireland Weather Forecast: Dry Weekend, Rain Next Week
- High pressure will bring “dry and settled” conditions to the country into the weekend with temperatures above the average for this time of year, according to Met Éireann.
- Hurricane Erin is currently heading northeast over the Atlantic, battering the east coast of the US, and its effects are expected to reach Ireland by Tuesday.

High pressure will bring “dry and settled” conditions to the country into the weekend with temperatures above the average for this time of year, according to Met Éireann.
Hurricane Erin is currently heading northeast over the Atlantic, battering the east coast of the US, and its effects are expected to reach Ireland by Tuesday.
Met Éireann meteorologist Aoife Kealy said: “It will be heading towards somewhere between Iceland and ourselves. But as it’s tracking in the coming days, it’s going to weaken and it’s going to transition to what we call an extra tropical depression, which is essentially just kind of the low-pressure systems that bring us our usual unsettled weather.”
Ms Kealy said that the fallout from Erin’s remnants is unlikely to see rainfall much different to the norm in Ireland.
“What we are more likely to see is probably it will be more unsettled from Tuesday onwards, but it’s just likely to be kind of a regular unsettled weather,” she added.

Focusing on today’s weather, the national forecaster is predicting high pressure bringing dry weather with limited sunny spells and some isolated showers in parts.
Temperatures will reach the higher-than-average range of 17C to 22C for this time of year.
The dry spell will continue into tonight with foggy patches developing in the west.
Tomorrow will be dry, though largely cloudy, with showers in some western counties and highest temperatures of 17C to 21C.
Saturday will be another warm day with a cloudy start before becoming sunnier in the afternoon with dry conditions remaining into the night. Highest expected temperatures are 18C to 22C.
Sunday will be another cloudy day with scattered rainfall in the west once more, with showers becoming less frequent in the evening. Highest temperatures of 18C to 22C.
Monday looks like it will be the final dry day before the effects of Hurricane Erin become apparent over the country, with sunny spells and temperatures in the range of a balmy 19C to 23C expected.
