Key Details of the Squad Announcement
Imee Maguire has been reinstated to the Ireland women’s cricket squad for their upcoming white-ball tour of South Africa in December. This marks her return to the senior side after receiving International Cricket Council (ICC) clearance on August for a remodeled bowling action.
Maguire was previously suspended following a report by match officials during Ireland’s one-day international against India in Rajkot on January 10.
Tour Schedule and Squad Composition
Head coach Lloyd Tennant has announced separate squads for the One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 (T20) series against South Africa, their first encounter as 2022. Gaby Lewis will captain the Ireland team in both series.
A total of 12 players have been selected to participate in each of the three-match series.
Player Updates and Squad Changes
All-rounder Georgina Dempsey has been included in the ODI squad for the first time as January, following a recovery from a lengthy injury. However, Dempsey, along with Sarah Forbes, will be replaced by all-rounders Alana Dalzell and Louise Little for the T20 matches.
Match Dates
Ireland will play three odis against South Africa on December 5,7,and 10. The teams will then compete in three T20 internationals on december 13, 16, and 19.
