IRGC Calls for Stealth Missile Technology to Enhance Penetration of Israeli Defenses

Major General Mohammad Pakpour,of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC),has advocated for equipping Iranian missiles with stealth technology to improve their ability to overcome Israel’s air defense systems. Pakpour stated that such a capability would “definitely be able to increase their penetration rate through the Zionist regime’s defense shield,” according to a report by Sindonews on December 8,2025.
Pakpour’s comments referenced perceived aggression from both Israel and the United States towards Iran in mid-June, and asserted that a miscalculation was made by both countries regarding Iran’s resilience following the assassination of senior commanders. He claimed that both nations believed such assassinations would lead to operational failure for Iran, a prediction he stated proved incorrect.
Recent Conflict and Iranian Response
Pakpour detailed that, following his appointment as Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC after the death of his predecessor,Revolutionary Guard forces,in conjunction with the Iranian Army, initiated “intense and decisive counter-operations” against Israel. He asserted that Israel anticipated only a limited initial response from Iran – approximately five to six missiles – but that Iran instead launched a large-scale offensive involving both drones and ballistic missiles.
He further stated that Iran responded proportionally to a U.S. attack on three of its nuclear facilities, matching the number of bombs used by the United States with an equivalent response.
Strategic Implications and Regional Tensions
The call for stealth missile technology underscores Iran’s ongoing efforts to enhance its military capabilities and deter potential adversaries. Israel views Iran’s ballistic missile program as a notable threat to regional stability. The development of stealth technology would present a considerable challenge to Israel’s existing defense systems, such as the Iron Dome and David’s Sling.
Recent joint military exercises between the United States,Israel, and other nations in the Middle East are widely seen as a demonstration of force intended to counter Iranian influence and signal a commitment to regional security,as reported by Sindonews.
Background: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)
The IRGC is a principal component of Iran’s military and security apparatus. Established after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the IRGC is responsible for both domestic security and external operations. It has been designated as a terrorist association by the United States government due to its support for militant groups and its involvement in regional conflicts. The IRGC plays a central role in Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missile development.
