Israel Launches Major Strikes on Iran Amid Rising Tensions
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated as Israel conducted a series of strikes on Iran, targeting key nuclear facilities, military sites, and energy infrastructure. The attacks, which occurred Friday, were met with a swift response from Iran, which launched missiles and drones at Israel.
Israeli strikes hit multiple locations across Iran, including the capital, Tehran, and military installations in the surrounding area. Other targeted cities included Natanz, site of a major uranium enrichment facility; tabriz, home to a nuclear research center and military bases; Isfahan; Arak; and Kermanshah, where an underground ballistic missile storage facility near the Iraqi border was struck.

The Natanz nuclear facility, Iran’s largest uranium enrichment site, sustained significant damage. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the above-ground section of a pilot fuel enrichment plant, where uranium was enriched up to 60%, was destroyed. Key electricity infrastructure was also affected. Rafael Grossi, the IAEA’s chief, told the United Nations Security Council that Iranian authorities reported attacks on the fordow fuel enrichment plant and Isfahan.
in addition to the nuclear sites,Israel also targeted Iran’s oil and gas infrastructure. On Saturday,Iran partially suspended gas production at its largest field, south Pars, following an Israeli strike that triggered a fire. The blaze, which has since been extinguished, broke out in one of the gasfield’s units, halting 12 million cubic meters of gas production. An attack on the Fajr Jam gas plant, located northwest of South Pars, was also confirmed.

Iran retaliated with a barrage of drones and ballistic missiles aimed at Israel.Israeli authorities reported that the death toll from the Iranian attacks has risen to 10, with over 200 people wounded. Several people remain missing. While Israel’s Iron Dome system intercepted many of the incoming projectiles, some missiles caused significant damage and casualties.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel “must expect severe punishment” for the attacks. “They started this and initiated the war. We won’t allow them to escape unscathed from this grate crime they have committed,” Khamenei said on state TV.

The exchange of fire marks a significant escalation in the long-standing tensions between Israel and Iran, raising fears of a broader conflict in the region. It is the first time the two countries have directly engaged in such intense military action.
