Israel Launches Major Strikes on Iran Amid Rising Tensions

Tensions in the Middle ⁢East have escalated as Israel conducted a series‌ of strikes on Iran, targeting key nuclear facilities, military sites, and energy​ infrastructure. The attacks, which occurred Friday, were ‍met with a ⁣swift response from Iran, ​which launched ⁢missiles ⁣and drones‌ at Israel.

Israeli strikes hit multiple locations across Iran, including the ⁣capital, Tehran, and military installations in the surrounding area. ‌Other targeted cities included Natanz, site​ of a major uranium enrichment facility; tabriz, ‍home⁤ to a nuclear research center and military bases; Isfahan; ‌Arak; and Kermanshah, where an underground ballistic missile storage facility near the Iraqi border was struck.

The Natanz nuclear ‌facility, Iran’s largest uranium enrichment site, sustained significant damage. According to ⁤the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the above-ground⁢ section of a pilot fuel enrichment⁤ plant, ‍where uranium‍ was ​enriched up to‍ 60%,‌ was destroyed. Key electricity infrastructure was also affected. Rafael Grossi,the ‌IAEA’s chief,told the United Nations​ Security Council that Iranian authorities reported attacks on the fordow ‍fuel enrichment ⁣plant and​ Isfahan.

On​ Saturday,Iran partially suspended gas production at ‌its largest field,south Pars,following an Israeli strike that triggered a fire. The blaze, ​which has since‌ been extinguished, broke out ⁣in‌ one of the gasfield’s units, halting‌ 12 million cubic meters of gas production. An⁣ attack on the⁢ Fajr⁣ Jam gas plant, located northwest of South Pars,‍ was also confirmed.

Iran retaliated with a barrage of drones and ‌ballistic missiles⁣ aimed ⁣at Israel.Israeli authorities reported that the death toll from‌ the ​Iranian‍ attacks has ‍risen to 10,⁢ with over 200 people wounded. Several people remain missing. While Israel’s Iron Dome ⁤system ⁤intercepted many of the incoming projectiles, some missiles ​caused significant damage⁢ and casualties.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali ⁣Khamenei⁤ said Israel “must expect severe‌ punishment” for the attacks. “They⁣ started this and initiated the war. We won’t allow them ​to escape unscathed from ⁣this grate crime they have committed,” Khamenei said on state TV.
