Paisley, Scotland – In a move that signals its aggressive growth strategy, Irish engineering powerhouse Suir Engineering has acquired Taylor & Fraser, a respected 118-year-old family-run engineering firm based in Paisley, Scotland. The acquisition, announced this week, will see Taylor & Fraser continue to operate under its established name, ensuring a seamless transition for its 180 employees.
“The acquisition of Taylor & Fraser is a key part of our ambitious growth strategy,” said John kelly, CEO of Suir Engineering. “By the end of 2025, we anticipate that Suir Engineering will be among the top ten M&E contractors in the UK by revenue.”
Suir Engineering, headquartered in Ireland and operating across Europe, reported a turnover of €429 million in 2023.The company projects revenues of €550 million for 2025, driven by the Taylor & Fraser acquisition, a robust project pipeline, and a strategic talent acquisition program.
UK Market: A Prime Target for Growth
The UK market presents notable opportunities for Suir Engineering, notably in the booming data center and energy sectors. “The UK presents huge opportunities in two of our four specialist sectors, data centers and energy, power and renewables, and it is indeed one of the biggest data center territories in Europe,” Kelly explained.
He highlighted Taylor & Fraser’s “wealth of mechanical and electrical engineering expertise and an outstanding legacy built over three generations of this highly-regarded family business.”
The acquisition strengthens Suir’s presence in Scotland and across the UK, with plans for further expansion to meet the growing demand in the sector. “We now have a UK presence at three key locations and have further plans for expansion in line with the multi-billion pound market demand that we are seeing in our sector,” Kelly added.
