On Saturday, 25 April 2026, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden race took place at Limerick Racecourse as part of the day’s flat racing card. The event, restricted to three-year-old colts and geldings, was run over seven furlongs and 50 yards on turf and attracted a field of 12 runners.

According to the racecard published by Sporting Life, the favourite for the contest was The Publican’s Son, who opened at odds of 5/4. The horse, trained by A. Mullins and ridden by jockey J. Cleary, carried a rating of 9-8 and had previously finished last of 13 in a maiden at Gowran over seven furlongs on soft ground, just 17 days prior to this race.

Second in the betting was Zenford, starting at 2/1. The colt, also trained by J. P. O’Brien and ridden by Declan McDonogh, had finished seventh of 13 in his debut at the Curragh last autumn over the same distance on soft ground. Connections noted he was open to improvement on his return to action.

God of Power, trained by A. Slattery and ridden by Andrew Slattery, was the third choice at 11/4. The horse had shown promise on debut at Dundalk in November, finishing fourth over one mile, but had since come back only ninth after a break, suggesting he needed the run.

Other notable runners included Dark Leader, a son of Dark Angel closely related to recent winners Bridge Dress Me and The Wizard of Eye, who started at 20/1 under jockey Seamie Heffernan and trainer J. A. Stack. Big Cypress, another J. P. O’Brien-trained colt, was also in contention at 11/1 after showing ability on his Curragh debut.

The racecard also listed Casamorati, Oro Blanco, Sancerre Rock, Shivoo, Garryowen Green, Little Roy, and Absoluteassignment among the remaining runners, with odds ranging from 14/1 to 200/1. Several of these horses were making their second or third career starts, having debuted in recent weeks or months.

In their verdict, Sporting Life noted that while The Publican’s Son would be hard to beat if he showed up, he was due to run at Cork on the preceding Friday. In his likely absence, Zenford was preferred as the sharper contender for a recent outing at the Curragh, ahead of God of Power and Big Cypress, who were seen as the next best chances based on their previous performances.
