Newcastle United are reportedly exploring multiple attacking options this summer, with striker targets Benjamin Sesko and Yoane Wissa both featuring prominently in their transfer plans. Despite the potential acquisition of Sesko, who is also attracting notable interest from Manchester United, the magpies are keen to bolster their forward line further with the addition of Jackson, aiming to enhance depth and versatility.
Sesko Pursuit Continues, Jackson Remains a Target
The pursuit of Benjamin Sesko highlights Newcastle’s ambition to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. While the Slovenian international is a sought-after talent, the club’s interest in Jackson suggests a strategic approach to building a formidable attack. Adding Jackson would provide Eddie Howe with more options and tactical flexibility, crucial for competing on multiple fronts.
Wissa’s Stance: A Desire for St. James’ Park Move
Adding to the attacking reinforcements, Newcastle are also understood to be interested in Brentford forward Yoane Wissa. However, the situation surrounding wissa’s potential transfer is complex, with Brentford having already lost Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United this summer. This could impact their willingness to sanction another key attacking departure.
transfer journalist Ben Jacobs recently provided an update, stating,”Exclusive: Brentford have closed the door on a Yoane wissa exit after #NUFC raised their bid to £30m+. – Wissa refusing to train and disappointed by Brentford’s stance – Player feels Brentford have broken a pact allowing him to leave for £26m and wants #UCL.”
Though, Craig Hope, a journalist for the Daily Mail who is with the Newcastle squad in Singapore, has offered a different outlook. Hope revealed that wissa himself has communicated his strong desire to move to St. James’ Park.Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hope elaborated: “Yoane Wissa, I had an update on that this morning. I was trying to take a nap and I took a call on that. My latest information on that is Wissa has communicated that he absolutely wants this deal to happen, and that’s important.”
Hope further emphasized the player’s commitment, noting, “Eddie Howe is on the record, as saying that transfers only happen when a player really wants them to and Eddie likes that. He liked that in Anthony Elanga. Wissa wants it to happen. he’s not going to play for Brentford. Again, he’s communicated that to them. He’s told them to find a solution. This is the move he wants, not Villa, not for Forest, not Tottenham – Newcastle.”
This clear indication from Wissa himself suggests a strong personal drive to join Newcastle, possibly influencing the dynamics of any potential transfer negotiations.
