Ishii Hails Thai Heroes: Vietnam Falls as National Team Achieves Historic Victory
Thai National Team Triumphs Over Vietnam in LPBANK CUP 2024
Masatada Ishii, coach of the Thai national team, praised his players for their impressive comeback against Vietnam in the LPBANK CUP 2024.
The match, held at Mi Dinh Stadium in Vietnam, saw the Thai national team, also known as the War Elephants, defeat Vietnam 2-1. Suphanat Mueanta scored in the 25th minute, and Patrik Gustafsson sealed the win in the 41st minute.
Coach Masatada Ishii expressed his admiration for the team’s performance, saying, ”We had to play two games in this warm-up in Vietnam, but I’m still impressed with the team. The Vietnam Football Association and related people made the only remaining match possible.”
Ishii continued, “At the start of the game, Vietnam attacked quickly, causing us to concede a goal first. We had to think how to improve it. After that, we adapted to the style our team had been practicing, and we were able to score the goal back.”
The coach also praised the team’s overall performance, saying, “Every player who went to watch the J-League or play in the Thai League performed as expected. I didn’t see if it was passed or not, but I think everyone can do as expected from watching their form with the club.”
Regarding Suphanat Mueanta’s performance, Ishii said, “If you say what position suits him, like today’s game, let him play on the side and play in front of goal. He can play both positions. If you want to say which position suits him, I can’t speak, but I think it works well in the offensive game for the team.”
The Thai national team will return to Thailand immediately and will participate in the 50th King’s Cup football competition in Songkhla on FIFA Day in October, scheduled to take place between October 11-14, 2024.
