ISHOF to Induct Swimming Legends Nathan Adrian, Laszlo Cseh, and Ranomi Kromowidjojo

The International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) has announced the induction of its Class of 2026, featuring 11 honorees representing seven different countries. The 61st Annual Honoree Induction Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The 2026 class is headlined by three honor swimmers: Nathan Adrian of the United States, László Cseh of Hungary, and Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands. According to Swimming World, the induction ceremony marks a return to Fort Lauderdale for the organization.
Featured Honor Swimmers
Nathan Adrian enters the Hall of Fame as a three-time Olympian and five-time Olympic gold medalist. Specializing in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle events, Adrian has accumulated 32 medals in major international competitions, including 20 gold, seven silver, and five bronze medals across the Olympic Games, the FINA World Championships, and the Pan Pacific Championships.

Reporting from SwimSwam notes that Adrian is an eight-time Olympic medalist and has secured 10 World Championship gold medals in long course and two in short course. His individual achievements include a gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the 2012 Olympics. Adrian is also an 11-time individual NCAA Champion from Cal Berkeley and contributed to the Bears’ 2010 men’s team championship.
László Cseh is recognized as a five-time Olympian and six-time Olympic medalist. Cseh is noted for his versatility, having competed in every stroke and nearly every event in World Aquatics competition. His international record includes 74 medals, with 38 gold, 19 silver, and 17 bronze, earned at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships, and one edition of the World Universiade Games.
In addition to being a 33-time European Champion, Cseh established five world records in the individual medley, which was his signature event.

Category Notes and Special Inductions
The 2026 class includes the induction of Beatrice Hess, a 20-time Paralympic gold medalist, in a separate Paralympian category. Richard Burns becomes the first Masters Swimmer to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in a decade.

SwimSwam reported that there is no honoree in the Pioneer category this year. The Pioneer category is traditionally reserved for individuals whose great achievements or advancements in aquatics…have been overlooked
due to factors such as era, war, politics, or barrier-breaking moments.
The May 16, 2026, ceremony will also serve as an official honoring for Ryan Lochte and Gregg Troy. Both were members of the 2025 class but were unable to attend the previous year’s ceremony held in Singapore.
