Jeju Island Recognized for Excellence in Hometown Donation System
Jeju Island, led by Governor Oh Young-hoon, has been awarded the grand prize at the ‘1st Hometown Love Donation System Best Practice Contest’ held at the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center in Gyeongbuk.
This prestigious event aimed to identify and reward outstanding examples of hometown donation system operation, promoting the system’s activation nationwide.
Out of 36 local governments that submitted their best practices, 14 finalists presented their hometown donation system promotion processes through on-site presentations on the day of the event.
Jeju Island secured the top spot in the nation for the number of donations and second place for the amount raised last year by leveraging gifts and fundraising projects that reflect the region’s unique characteristics and preferential policies for donors.
By winning the grand prize, Jeju Island not only gained recognition but also secured 150 million won in special grants.
Choi Myeong-dong, head of the Planning and Coordination Office, attributed the success to proactive reorganization and preparation of promotional measures before the system’s implementation. He emphasized the province’s commitment to improving residents’ quality of life by activating the hometown donation system.
