Leobaldo Cabrera’s single in the top of the ninth inning, driving in pinch runner Ángel Aguilar from third, was the run that gave Tigres de Aragua an 8-7 win over Bravos de Margarita yesterday at their Nueva Esparta stadium in Guatamare.

After losing the first two games of this series of four, in the only visit the Aragüeños will make to the island in the regular round, the third time was the charm to end the bad moment of two setbacks .

With the game tied 7-7 at the start of the ninth inning, José Alberto Martínez singled to shortstop. Jeremy Rivas closed, but fired erratically to first base to allow “Cafecito” to get on base.

Aragua manager Buddy Bailey immediately sent Ángel Aguilar to run at first and reliever Claudio Custodio had an uncontrolled delivery, which sent Aguilar running after the leadoff hitter. In the first place he was called out, but the Tigers asked for a review, with which the sentence was overturned. Carlos Navas came in to relieve, but was met by an unstoppable attack from Cabrera in the middle, who ended up pushing Aguilar with a run that decided the game 8-7.

The victory belonged to Álex Carrillo (4-0), although he won a blown save, his first of the campaign. The American gave way to Alfredo Zárraga, the fifth arm used by the strategist Bailey and who scored his fourth save of the tournament.
Claudio Custodio (0-2), seventh of eight pitchers who marched on the Margarita mound, took the hit.

Tigres connected 14 hits to break the chain of two obstacles, suffered since last Tuesday in the home of the island team to leave their mark at 9-7. Braves, who had nine hits, fell to 7-9 with this result.

The game took place in three hours and 28 minutes, in front of a crowd of 680 fans. The temperature was around 36 degrees on a sunny afternoon.
