Bowness arrives from the Ottawa Senators, where he spent the last three seasons. His most recent role with Ottawa was associate GM during the 2024-25 season. He served as assistant GM for the prior two seasons.
This move follows the Islanders’ naming of Mathieu Darche as general manager last month, signaling a significant overhaul in team leadership. The Islanders are looking to improve after missing the playoffs with a 35-35-12 record, accumulating 82 points.
