What Happened in Rafah?
Israel has launched an attack in Rafah (Gaza) in which at least one person is believed to have died, while continuing to confront Hamas over Alleged violations of fragile US-brokered ceasefire which came into force last week with the aim of ending the war.
Israeli media reported “multiple attacks” carried out by the IDF late Sunday morning, stating that Hamas fighters clash with Israeli troops stationed in the southern city.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly walked out of a cabinet meeting to hold security consultations on the rafah skirmishes. There is also news of wounded Palestinians and possibly Israeli soldiers after the detonation of an improvised explosive device in the area.
Neither Hamas nor the IDF nor Israeli lawmakers have yet officially commented on the incident. Hamas has also accused Israel of violating the ceasefire nearly 50 times as it came into force.
Ceasefire Violations and Accusations
The Gaza-based group claims that Israel has killed dozens of Palestinians, using direct open fire on civilians, sponsoring armed insurgents to orchestrate murders and riots and through continuous acts of intimidation and aggression against civilians.
