A Lifeline for Sudan‘s Most Vulnerable Children
Near Al-Karary, Sudan, a dedicated team is providing critical support to children facing extreme hardship – those who are completely alone, living on the streets, and lacking even basic necessities. Recognizing a profound need within the community, this group has established a consistent presence, visiting local children four to five times each week as of August 31, 2025.
Creating Safe Spaces and Essential Support
The team’s efforts center around creating what they describe as “small camps” – safe, accessible locations where vulnerable children can receive vital resources. These camps provide more than just shelter; they are hubs for delivering food, clothing, and educational opportunities. Recognizing the lack of choice support systems, the team operates under the understanding that their intervention is frequently enough the only lifeline available to these children.
Beyond Basic Needs: The Healing Power of Connection
While the provision of food and clothing is essential, the team’s work extends beyond meeting basic needs. they organize school classes, offering a pathway to education and a sense of normalcy. Perhaps equally vital, they prioritize creating opportunities for fun and recreation, fostering a sense of joy and hope for children who have experienced significant trauma.
It’s all about them, but this time is also a form of therapy. Being with children helps.
