Security Alert: Vietnamese Embassy in Israel Issues Recommendations Amid Escalating Tensions
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel has issued security and safety measures for the Vietnamese community living, working, and studying in the country, amid escalating tensions between Israel and the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon.
Recommendations for the Vietnamese Community in Israel
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel advises the community to take the following precautions:
- Regularly monitor and update the current situation in Israel through reputable local media. Avoid areas that do not ensure security and safety, particularly those at risk of attacks by Hezbollah forces, especially in northern Israel.
- Strictly comply with local authorities’ regulations and instructions on security measures. Develop plans and strategies to ensure the safety and security of yourself and your loved ones in the current war context.
- Regularly keep in touch with the Embassy. In case of emergency, need support, or require information about citizen protection plans, contact the citizen protection hotline: +972 50 818 6116.
Escalating Tensions Between Israel and Hezbollah
Hezbollah forces have launched a series of attacks on cities in northern Israel, with approximately 150-160 rockets and drones fired every day on September 22-23. Some attacks have reached as far as 50 km from the border, affecting cities such as Haifa, Nazareth, Afula, and Jezreel Valley.
This is believed to be the largest and deepest attack on Israeli territory by Hezbollah forces since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023. The attack was in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike on southern Beirut on the night of September 20, 2024, which killed Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Akil.
In response to the escalating tensions, the Israel Defense Forces have significantly increased their attacks on approximately 300 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on September 23. The retaliatory attacks have increased in intensity and scale, making the conflict between the two sides increasingly complicated.
