Tel Aviv - A glimmer of hope emerged in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas as the militant group signaled its willingness to release 34 Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip. A senior Hamas official,speaking anonymously to AFP,revealed a list of names belonging to the 34 hostages slated for release. This move would mark the first phase of a potential larger prisoner exchange agreement.
“until now, Israel has not received any confirmation or comment from Hamas regarding the status of the hostages listed,” stated a spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The statement clarified that the list of hostages was initially provided by Israel to mediators in July 2024, not directly to Hamas.
