The Breakdown of Events

Despite an ongoing ceasefire, Israel ‌ carried out airstrikes in Gaza yesterday, according to ‌Gaza’s ‌civil defence ‍agency.This action followed accusations by‌ the‍ Israel ​Defence ⁤Forces (IDF) that Hamas attacked its ​troops and violated the truce.

The Gaza civil defence agency, which operates as a rescue force under Hamas, reported that⁢ at least⁤ 30 people were killed in the strikes⁤ targeting⁣ various parts of⁤ Gaza. Five​ fatalities occurred when a vehicle⁣ was struck by an airstrike.

Hamas stated its fighters had “no connection to the ⁤shooting incident in Rafah,” where the IDF claims the attack on its troops occurred. Defense Minister Israel‍ Katz asserted that the attack on IDF soldiers constituted a “crossing of a shining red line” and ‌vowed a forceful response.

US Response and Ceasefire Status

US Vice⁣ President Joe Biden acknowledged “skirmishes” but maintained that the ceasefire was generally holding. ‌ Speaking on ⁤ Fox‍ News, Biden stated, “That⁤ doesn’t mean that there aren’t going to be little skirmishes,” and expressed confidence that the “president’s peace is going to hold.” He indicated that the US‌ expects Israel to respond to⁢ the alleged ⁤attack on its soldier.

Several top US officials ‌traveled to‍ Israel ⁢last week to bolster the ceasefire, which was brokered by President Donald Trump.
