Israel Strikes Yemen: Houthi Attacks Prompt Response
Sanaa Under Fire: Israeli Strikes Target Houthi Military Sites, Raising Fears for Civilians
Sanaa, Yemen - The echoes of explosions reverberated through Sanaa this weekend as Israel confirmed it conducted strikes against Houthi military targets within the Yemeni capital. The move comes after the Iranian-backed Houthi militants claimed duty for launching a ballistic missile toward israel on Friday, marking a significant escalation in the regional conflict.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strikes targeted key elements of the Houthi regime’s “military infrastructure.” These included a site within the presidential palace complex, the Asar and Hizaz power plants, and a fuel storage facility. The IDF asserted that these locations were vital to the Houthis’ military operations, with the power plants serving as a “significant electricity supply facility for military activities.”
The IDF stated the strikes were a direct response to “repeated attacks” by the Houthis against Israel, including the launch of surface-to-surface missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) toward Israeli territory in recent days.
