Airstrike by Israel in Syria
An Israeli airstrike killed dozens in the city of Palmyra, Syria. The Syrian Ministry of Defense reported 36 deaths and over 50 injuries. However, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a conflict monitoring group based in the UK, stated the death toll could reach 61.
The Israeli attack occurred on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, targeting buildings in Palmyra. The Syrian Ministry of Defense claimed the strikes came from the Al-Tanf area.
The attack caused significant material damage. The higher casualty figures reported by the Observatory may increase due to severely injured individuals. Of the casualties, 33 were Syrians affiliated with Iranian militias, 22 were non-Syrians, four belonged to the Hezbollah militia, and two had unknown origins.
