Settler Attacks in Jalud and Al-Mughayyir
In the village of Jalud, south of Nablus, residents reported that settlers set fire to Palestinian buildings, vehicles, and other property. According to local sources and the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the attacks included the burning of two homes belonging to the Mahmoud Al-Toubasi family. The Israeli military confirmed that settlers ignited fires in the village, noting that more than 100 individuals closed roads, burned tires, and threw stones at soldiers.
The Al-Toubasi family had returned to their home only hours before the attack, following a forced displacement that lasted approximately two months. Their return was facilitated by an Israeli Supreme Court decision. Witnesses reported that instead of intervening to stop the violence, Israeli forces provided protection to the settlers and subsequently forced the family to evacuate their home again under threat of arms.
A separate attack occurred in the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah. Settlers entered the village and set fire to several homes and vehicles, according to reporting from Al Jazeera.
Military Operations Across the West Bank
In addition to the events in Nablus and Ramallah, Israeli forces conducted raids in several other areas of the West Bank. Troops entered the village of Husan, west of Bethlehem, where they searched a number of civilian homes. No arrests were reported during these operations.
Further operations were documented in the Bethlehem governorate, specifically in the towns of Al-Ubeidiya, Beit Fajjar, and Za’atara. While these locations experienced military incursions, WAFA reported that there were no house raids or arrests recorded in those specific towns.
Context of Escalating Regional Violence
The West Bank has experienced a consistent escalation in military raids and arrests since October 2023. These operations have frequently occurred alongside increased settler activity, the implementation of movement restrictions, and the blocking of access points to various Palestinian towns and villages.
