Israeli and Palestinian friends Pursue Peace After Gaza War

Following the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent war in Gaza, an Israeli man, Maoz Inon, and his Palestinian friend, Aziz Abu Sarah, are focusing on building peaceful coexistence. Their efforts aim to replicate the timeframe of the Egypt-Israel peace treaty, which took five years to materialize after their 1973 war.
A Decade-Long Friendship
Inon and Abu Sarah initially connected a decade ago in Jerusalem over tea. Their relationship primarily existed on Facebook until the events of October 7th, 2023.
Reaching Out After Tragedy
Inon’s parents were killed during the Hamas attack.Abu Sarah contacted Inon following the tragedy, offering support.

Building Peace From the Ground Up
The two men are now working with other activists, meeting at an art school in Jaffa, a mixed Jewish and Arab neighborhood, to foster peace initiatives. They believe in a grassroots approach to reconciliation.
