At least four people were killed in Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon on Saturday, marking a fresh violation of the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah.
The Israeli military targeted several areas in southern Lebanon, including Qantara, Qusayr, Wadi Hassan, Yohmor al-Shaqif, and Houla, using artillery shelling, according to Lebanon’s state news agency.
An Israeli drone struck a motorcycle and a truck in the town of Yohmor al-Shaqif, resulting in the deaths of four people, as reported by the Lebanese Health Ministry.
In a separate incident, two additional people were killed and 17 others injured in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Safad al-Battikh in the Bint Jbeil district.
The Israeli military continued its operations by demolishing homes with explosives in the occupied town of Khiam, while an Israeli drone was observed flying at low altitude over Beirut since morning hours.
These attacks occurred despite a three-week extension of the cease-fire, which was announced following high-level negotiations at the White House between U.S. And Israeli officials.
Since March 2, expanded Israeli operations in southern Lebanon have resulted in nearly 2,500 deaths and displaced over one million people, according to Lebanese authorities.
The United States and Israel launched an air offensive on Iran on February 28, which preceded a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2, triggering the current escalation.
Lebanon’s National News Agency confirmed that the latest strikes represent the most recent in a series of cease-fire violations by Israeli forces in the region.
