Upskilling for teh Digital Frontier: Navigating Arrosal Technology’s BI Certification Program
In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, continuous learning and skill development are paramount for organizational success. Arrosal Technology is proactively addressing this imperative through it’s thorough in-house Business Intelligence (BI) certification program, designed to equip its workforce with the advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities needed to thrive. The program, which restarted in April, has already seen significant engagement, with a clear roadmap for future growth and employee empowerment.
From Foundational Skills to Expert Request: The BI Certification Levels
The Arrosal Technology BI certification program is structured across four distinct levels, each building upon the previous one to foster a deep and practical understanding of BI tools and methodologies.
Level 1: The Entry Point
The initial phase of the program focuses on foundational BI knowledge. As Nakata, a key figure in the initiative, explains, “Since it was restarted in April, as of May, only 510 people had acquired Level 2. Though, we created a list of certified students to make it available on Slack, and encouraged employees to work harder, and I think we managed to clear the goal of all of them clear Level 2 by the end of June 2025.” This initial push highlights a strategic effort to rapidly upskill a significant portion of the workforce, fostering a culture of data literacy across the organization.
Level 2: E-learning of In-house BI Training Content
Upon achieving Level 2, employees gain access to arrosal Technology’s in-house BI training content through an e-learning platform. This level signifies a solid grasp of core BI concepts and practical application.
Level 3: Demonstrating Customer-Centric Service and Peer Development
The transition to Level 3 marks a significant leap in the certification journey. “When Level 3 is reached, we are required to know whether we can provide proper services to our customers,” Nakata elaborates. “It’s not about training, but rather that we are doing various tasks, so the results of those tasks are subject to evaluation.” This level emphasizes practical application and the ability to translate technical skills into tangible business outcomes.Crucially, Level 3 also assesses an individual’s capacity for “horizontal development” – the ability to share knowledge and mentor peers. “Even if we have high skills, ther are many people who are unable to do horizontal development to teach our peers, and are becoming personal. We are required to develop these skills horizontally. We will inherit high-quality technology within the company. Once this is confirmed,we will be certified.”
The certification process at Level 3 is initiated by the individual, with their direct manager evaluating their contributions and recommending them to the Technical Development Headquarters. A review committee, comprising the head and deputy head of the Technology Development Headquarters, makes the final certification decision. As of the end of June, two individuals had achieved Level 3 certification, with three more awaiting approval, indicating a rigorous yet accessible evaluation process.
Level 4: strategic problem-Solving and Organizational impact
Level 4 represents the pinnacle of the BI certification program, demanding not only advanced digital technology skills but also remarkable problem-solving abilities and a broader strategic outlook.”As our technical skills grow, we become more specialized and more advanced,” Nakata explains. “Some people become specialized in management, while others become more researchers. I think people like The Yachiyo, who take root in the organization’s culture while doing so, will be certified as Level 4.Basically, our company has a research institute, but the directors of that are active externally, and they are originally from technology and have solved customer problems. I think that those people will become known as Level 4.” this level recognizes individuals who can leverage their technical expertise to address complex business challenges and contribute significantly to the company’s long-term vision and knowledge dissemination.
Future Initiatives: Embracing Generative AI and Expanding Expertise
Looking ahead, Arrosal Technology is committed to further enhancing its workforce’s capabilities through strategic initiatives. “As part of our future initiative, we would like to continue using generation AI through Level 2 reskilling,” Nakata states. Recognizing the growing interest and potential of generative AI, the company aims to integrate its practical application into the reskilling process. “The most common DX-related surveys were those who said, ‘I want to try using generation AI, but I don’t have much time to touch on it.'” arrosal Technology is actively addressing this by showcasing real-world applications of generative AI in their internal DX conferences.
Furthermore, the company plans to increase the number of Level 3 certified employees, underscoring the importance of practical application and knowledge sharing.
