Max Verstappen has expressed his desire to secure the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship through his own performance, hoping to avoid a scenario where misfortune for Oscar Piastri determines the outcome. He stated he wishes to win the championship “without anything happening” to his rival, demonstrating a commitment to fair competition.
“I just wish that I can find that last little bit that I can still win the championship without anything happening. That’s the way I wish to do it,” Verstappen said, according to reporting by Autosport.

Verstappen recognizes the challenge posed by Oscar Piastri, acknowledging the McLaren driver’s strong performance throughout the season. “I can’t do a lot more as I feel like I’m doing already everything I can,so its not like this was a trigger and now I can suddenly start doing more,” Verstappen explained.
