Italy Weather: Rain and Strong Winds – Forecast for Afternoon & Evening

Weather Update: Rain and Strong Winds Continue, More Regions to be Affected Soon. Details for the Afternoon and Evening

The phase of strong instability that has gripped Italy for almost all of this week shows no sign of easing. After a brief respite on Thursday, February 5th, the bad weather returned on Friday, February 6th, and the next few hours will be characterized by scattered rain and strong winds, impacting many regions.

Situation
The cause of this unsettled situation lies in the absence of a high-pressure system capable of blocking the depressions that continue to travel undisturbed from the Atlantic Ocean towards our country.
Another perturbation from this turbulent start to February is currently crossing Italy.
After causing intense precipitation overnight in the Northwest, particularly in lower Piedmont and Liguria – with snowfall on the mountains – and widespread rain along much of the Tyrrhenian side, it is now moving eastward, bringing an extensive cloud cover, and precipitation.

Afternoon: Rain and Strong Winds Heading South
In the next few hours, while conditions are gradually improving in the Northwest regions, the worsening weather will tend to move towards the Northeast. The central and southern regions will also be affected, especially the middle and lower Tyrrhenian sector: the heaviest rainfall is expected between Campania and Calabria, and thunderstorms are not ruled out.
During the afternoon, improvements are expected in much of the North and the central Tyrrhenian regions, while persistent precipitation will continue to affect the central Adriatic side and lower Tyrrhenian: the bad weather will persist in Calabria until the evening.

Evening and Night: Evolution of the Weather
During the evening and the next night, the perturbation will further shift its center of gravity eastward; however, the weather situation will not fully stabilize, nor will it in the day of Saturday, February 7th. An even more unstable scenario is expected for Sunday, February 8th, when a new disturbance will advance towards Italy, maintaining conditions of strong uncertainty.
