Scotland settles for silver in World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

Bruce mouat and Jen Dodds of Scotland secured a silver medal at the World Mixed Doubles curling Championship after a 9-4 defeat against Italy’s Amos Mosaner and Stefania Constantini. The final took place in Fredericton, Canada.
The Scottish duo,who previously won the title in 2021,faced tough competition from the Olympic champions. A decisive four-point score by the Italians in the seventh end of the mixed doubles curling match proved insurmountable, despite a prior three-point rally from Scotland.
Mouat, who also led Scotland to a world men’s title this year, reflected on the season. He noted the team’s consistent performance in reaching the finals of all four international tournaments they entered. Despite the loss, Mouat expressed pride in their journey to the final.
“We’re a bit gutted not to get across the line there, but we’re very proud of our week that we managed to get to the final again,” Mouat said.
Mouat also acknowledged the changing ice conditions during the final,which impacted their play. The Italians had previously defeated Scotland 7-4 in the round-robin stage, finishing with nine straight wins and advancing directly to the semi-finals.

“We’ll be back and hopefully next year we’ll come back firing, but we’re looking forward to some down time,” Mouat admitted. “it’s been an amazing six weeks for me and I really enjoyed myself.”
In the third-place match, Australia’s Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt made history by defeating Estonia 9-2, earning Australia’s first-ever world curling medal.
