Itsyhome HomeKit App Now Available for iPhone

Itsyhome, a smart home controller originally developed for macOS, has expanded its availability to iOS and iPadOS. Developed by Nikolajs Ustinovs, the application serves as a compact alternative to the standard Apple Home interface, designed to provide faster access to HomeKit and Home Assistant devices.

The iOS version mirrors the philosophy of the Mac menu bar app by prioritizing speed and a minimal footprint. The interface is designed to mimic the iOS Settings app, utilizing a familiar layout of rooms, devices, and controls to reduce clutter and navigation time.

Core Functionality and Integration

Itsyhome connects directly to a user’s HomeKit environment without requiring a manual setup process. To maintain privacy and security, all communication occurs locally on the user’s network, meaning the app does not utilize cloud accounts or tracking mechanisms.

The application supports a wide array of HomeKit accessory types, offering tailored controls for specific device categories:

• Lights: Controls for power, brightness, color temperature, and a color picker.
• Climate Control: Thermostats and AC units with temperature steppers and heat, cool, or auto modes.
• Access Control: Management for door locks and garage doors.
• Window Coverings: Position and tilt controls for blinds and shutters.
• Air Quality and Environment: Support for humidifiers, air purifiers, valves, and various sensors including CO₂, smoke, leak, motion, contact, temperature, and humidity.
• Fans: Controls for speed, direction, swing, and auto mode.
• Security: Integration with security systems.

Automation and Grouping Features

A primary technical feature of Itsyhome is its automatic grouping logic. The app identifies similar accessories within a specific room and organizes them into expandable lists. This allows users to execute master toggles for all lights, blinds, or fans in a single room without manual configuration.

This logic extends to whole-home summaries, enabling users to dim every light in the house or close all blinds with a single action. Users who find these automatic groups unnecessary can hide them from their view.

Beyond simple device control, Itsyhome allows users to manage HomeKit automations directly within the app. This includes the ability to browse, toggle, test, edit, and create new automations based on several triggers:

• Specific times of day with multi-day recurrence.
• Sunrise and sunset triggers, including the ability to set offsets.
• Accessory-based events, such as when a door opens or closes, a light is toggled, or motion is detected.

The application is now available as a universal purchase across Apple platforms. On macOS, it functions as a menu bar app to keep controls one click away. On iPhone and iPad, it operates as a standalone compact controller.
