Saudi Prince Appointed to Led ITTF Financial Growth Initiative

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – In a meaningful move to bolster the global financial health of table tennis, His royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin abdulrahman bin Nasser Al Saud has been appointed to lead a crucial new initiative focused on strategic financial growth within the sport. This appointment underscores Saudi Arabia’s deepening commitment to the international progress of table tennis.
A New Era for Table Tennis Finance
The initiative, born from the adoption of Proposition A-07 at the recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), signals a proactive and collaborative approach to increasing development funding and enhancing marketing efforts for table tennis worldwide. The proposition, championed by the Uganda Table tennis association, received overwhelming support with a two-thirds majority vote, highlighting a clear mandate from member associations.
HRH Prince mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Nasser Al Saud, president of the Saudi Table Tennis Federation, expressed his enthusiasm and commitment to the new role. “I am honored by this trust placed in the Kingdom and in me personally,” he stated. “We will meet this challenge with clarity, commitment, and results. Our strategic focus will be on unlocking new avenues for financial growth, ensuring table tennis can reach its full potential on the global stage.”
Collaboration and Inclusivity at the Core
Joining Prince Mohammed in this pivotal first task is Mr. Cyrus Muwanga, President of the Uganda Table Tennis Association. His presence signifies the collaborative spirit behind the initiative,directly linking the driving force of the proposition with its leadership.The newly formed President’s Advisory Commission, which Prince Mohammed will lead, is designed for broad and inclusive representation.It is set to expand its membership by incorporating representatives from each continent, ensuring diverse perspectives inform its strategic direction. This commission will be tasked with a range of missions aimed at achieving the financial growth objectives.
ITTF Modernizes Governance
The ITTF AGM also saw significant decisions regarding the federation’s structure and governance. The Marketing Committee will be formally recognized as a permanent committee of the ITTF, effective January 1, 2026. This elevation reflects the growing importance of marketing in the sport’s enduring development.
Furthermore, the creation of a Gender, Equality, and Diversity (GEDI) Committee was approved, demonstrating the ITTF’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity and modern, equitable governance practices.
ITTF president Petra Sörling lauded the decisions and the appointment. “Our members spoke clearly at the AGM, and the ITTF is delivering,” she commented. “This is governance in action, turning vision into results. I am grateful to Saudi Table Tennis Federation President Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Nasser Al Saud for accepting this key leadership role, and to Uganda Table Tennis Association President Mr. Cyrus Muwanga for championing this vital initiative.
