Ivory Coast on High Alert: President Alassane Ouattara Orders Emergency Evacuation of Nationals and Diplomats
Ivory Coast nationals in Lebanon as well as diplomatic staff in Lebanon must return to the country. The decision was taken by President Alassane Ouaattara. “In response to this crisis, the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, ordered the return of Ivorians living in Lebanon, including diplomatic personnel”
Including 12 people, the staff led by Ambassador Christophe Kouakou were welcomed. He was accompanied by the first adviser and other officials working on the site on behalf of the State of Côte d’Ivoire.
Kanté Kouassi Joachim praised the commitment of President Ouattara and the diligence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians abroad, Léon Kacou Adom, who enabled the coordination of this operation. He said that this return would involve about a hundred Ivorians living in Lebanon, and about sixty of them have expressed a wish to return.
The ministry had already organized the voluntary return of around twenty nationals on October 25, before the arrival of the diplomatic group on October 26. Kanté ensured that the Ivorian government continued its efforts to facilitate the return of all Ivorians who wish to return.
