Minister Uraloğlu pointed out that foreign powers want Turkey to keep its head in the sand and are against mega projects, and continued as follows:

Emphasizing that İyidere Logistics Port, which is under construction, is a seal on the future of Rize, Uraloğlu said:
“This port is of strategic importance with its location on the Caucasus corridor opening to the Eastern Black Sea Region, Europe and Central Asia. It will be the transfer center of the combined transport chain that will result from the possible traffic between the Caucasus countries and the Middle East countries. With this feature, it will contribute to the share of the region and our country in maritime trade. We will employ 600 people in the first step.
Reminding that they opened Rize-Artvin Airport, which is the world’s first airport built on the sea and Turkey’s second airport after Ordu-Giresun Airport, in 2022, Uraloğlu said, “With its 3 thousand meter runway still with the capacity to serve 3 million passengers a year, the region “It fully meets the needs of air transport and has served approximately 2.5 million passengers on 16 thousand 637 flights since its opening on May 14, 2022 .” he said.
Noting that there are 68 domestic and international flights per week from Rize-Artvin Airport, Uraloğlu said that direct flights to Antalya will start on Monday and Friday from November 8.
Uraloğlu said that the necessary legal and commercial basis has been provided to start air transportation between Bahrain and Jordan and Rize, and the authority to organize 7 weekly flights on the Rize-Artvin-Bahrain and Rize-Artvin-Amman lines has been given to carriers of both countries.
Explaining that the Rize-Artvin Airport runway lighting system has been upgraded to CAT-2 level and the installation of the second ILS device has been completed, Uraloğlu added that the system will be ready for service at the end of November.
Within the scope of his contacts in Rize, Minister Uraloğlu also visited Governor İhsan Selim Baydaş, Mayor Rahmi Metin and AK Party Provincial Chairman Yılmaz Katmer.
