J Batt named Michigan State Athletic⁣ Director

J ⁢Batt will become ‍the new athletic director at Michigan State University, agreeing ‍to​ a six-year contract, sources said. ⁢An official declaration is expected Monday. The move will significantly increase Batt’s compensation.

Michigan State targeted Batt as of his fundraising background and experience in a power conference, seeking to modernize its ⁣athletic ‌department.he has been the⁣ athletic director at Georgia Tech as ‌October‌ 2022.

During his tenure at Georgia Tech, Batt quickly gained a ⁢reputation for fundraising and revenue generation. Donations increased by 43% to $78.2 million in his first⁤ fiscal year. he also spearheaded a financial partnership with Hyundai, which included naming ⁣rights‍ for the field.

Batt is also part of the Implementation Committee, which is shaping ⁢the future of​ college sports in anticipation of the House Settlement. He was slated ‍to earn more than $1.2 million this year at Georgia Tech.

Before Georgia Tech, Batt was the University of ​Alabama’s COO‍ and chief revenue officer, launching a 10-year, $600 million capital campaign. ⁣At Georgia Tech, he promoted football coach Brent Key and hired‍ Damon Stoudamire as men’s⁢ basketball coach. he also‌ worked⁤ to improve the game-day experience.
