Jack Draper, Britain’s top-ranked player, secured a spot in the Queen’s club’s last 16 with a decisive 6-3, 6-1 victory over American Jenson Brooksby on Tuesday. This win marks Draper’s second triumph against Brooksby this year, following their previous encounter at Indian Wells in March.the conditions in west London were hot, around 26 degrees Celsius, but a light breeze offered some relief as the players competed in the Andy Murray Arena.
Draper, 23, quickly took control of the match. Unlike their earlier match where Draper had to rally from behind, he broke Brooksby’s serve in the seventh game and then secured another break to win the first set. He maintained this momentum, breaking Brooksby’s serve early in the second set. A brief pause for a medical issue in the stands did little to slow Draper, who secured another break to seal the victory and advance in the tournament.
Looking ahead, Draper is set to face Australian Alexei Popyrin for a place in the quarter-finals. Popyrin previously defeated his fellow countryman, Aleksandar Vukic, in a three-set match on Monday.
In other matches on Tuesday, jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic defeated fifth-seed Australian Alex de Minaur 6-4, 6-2, also advancing to the last 16.
