Jack Ward Signs With Lidl-Trek Future, Takes on New Role
Updated June 23, 2025
Australian cyclist Jack Ward, 20, is set to join Lidl-Trek Future through 2027. This move follows Ward’s remarkable performance at the Tour of Bright in December 2024, where he won the opening stage and closely trailed WorldTour rider luke Plapp.
Ward’s performance in the Victorian high country, where he ultimately secured second place overall behind Plapp, paved the way for his 2025 spot as team leader for Team Brennan p/b TP32 in the ProVelo Super League (PSL). He capitalized on this chance by winning the inaugural edition of the series.
The ProVelo Super League victory guaranteed Ward a stagiaire role with Jayco-AlUla. However, his climbing and sprinting abilities garnered interest from international teams, including Lidl-Trek Future, leading him to forgo the stagiaire role.
“Thanks to my family and all those in my corner for getting me to this point,” Ward said on social media, acknowledging Team Brennan, his agent Annette Edmondson of Paradigm Shift Sports, and his coach Alex Quirk.
Ward also thanked ProVelo and team Jayco-AlUla for the stagiaire opportunity.”It was a great opportunity but ultimately I feel that joining Lidl-Trek Future Racing on a 2.5 year contract is the best step for me on my journey,” he said.
