Get ready to wax on and‍ wax off, America! A new generation is stepping into the dojo in “Karate Kid: Legends,” the latest installment in the​ beloved martial arts franchise. ⁤

sony Pictures has just dropped ⁢the official trailer, revealing a thrilling blend of nostalgia and fresh faces. The film, hitting theaters May 30, reunites iconic stars ralph Macchio, reprising his role ⁤as Daniel LaRusso, and Jackie Chan, returning as⁤ the wise Mr. Han.

This time, they’re mentoring ⁢a new student, Li Fong, played by ⁣rising star Ben Wang. Wang, who impressed with his diverse‍ martial arts skills, ​including karate, wing ​chun/kung fu, gumdo, ⁤kempo, and⁣ taekwondo, was chosen from thousands of hopefuls in a global search.

“I ‌was the target audience when that⁢ movie came out. I was exactly the age‍ of the character,” wang shared with Entertainment Weekly. “That whole ​movie⁢ takes place in Beijing,⁢ and I’d just come back from ‍living for ⁢a year in Beijing. Also, I grew up watching Jackie Chan movies.​ He is the first ⁢memory I⁣ have of knowing what an actor is. ⁢It ⁤was all of my favorite things in one place.”

ming-Na Wen joins the ⁢cast as Li Fong’s mother, while Joshua Jackson and Sadie⁣ Stanley round out the ⁤ensemble.

Jonathan Entwistle, known for his work on Netflix’s​ “I Am Not okay With‍ This” and “The End of the F—ing World,” directs the ⁤film.The screenplay is⁣ penned by Rob Lieber, the writer ​behind “Peter ‍Rabbit.”
