Jackson Bailey, a former Prairie view A&M football player, has died⁢ at the age of 22. The university announced his death Tuesday,⁤ but did not specify ‍a cause. Bailey,a linebacker,had joined the Prairie View A&M Panthers for the ⁤2023⁤ season but did not ‍participate in any games.

Prairie View A&M University’s Department of Athletics released a statement extending condolences ⁣to Bailey’s family, friends, teammates, and fraternity brothers, calling him a “cherished member” of both the football program ⁣and the broader university community. The young football player’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief and remembrance.

Before Prairie View A&M, Bailey began his college football career as a three-star recruit at Arizona. He then transferred to Louisiana-Monroe,⁣ where he played in nine games ⁤during the ⁤2022‍ season, recording 14 tackles and one quarterback hurry. The linebacker’s ⁢journey reflects his⁣ dedication to college football ‍and his pursuit of opportunities on the field.

“He⁣ chose Prairie View A&M to be closer to home, and ⁤in doing so, became an unforgettable part of⁣ our campus family,” the statement read. “Though ⁢his time at PVAMU was brief, the impact he made will resonate for years to come. We honor and remember Jackson “Jacks” Bailey not ⁣only for his potential and promise but for the way he lived—with⁢ purpose, humor, humility and heart.”

During his high school career at Red Oak in ⁤Texas, bailey excelled ⁤as a linebacker.as a⁢ junior ⁣in 2019, he led the team with 60 tackles, including nine for loss, and helped Red Oak reach the regional finals of the Texas 5A D2 State Playoffs. His senior year saw him record 57 tackles,along with two interceptions and two forced fumbles,as Red Oak advanced to the state ‍quarterfinals. ⁣Jackson Bailey’s football⁢ career was marked by critically important achievements and ⁣contributions to his teams.

“He‍ had a strong football IQ and natural speed, shaped by a prosperous high school career in which his team lost only three games,” the statement ⁤read. “He described his best game as one ⁤with 10 tackles, one touchdown ⁢and a fumble recovery⁣ — a testament to his love for the game and his ability to shine under ‍pressure.”
