The Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that the blast occurred at 9:38 p.m. Off Mosswood Road, located near Louisiana Highway 145 and Louisiana Highway 146, just south of Choudrant. No injuries were reported following the incident, according to reporting from the Lincoln Parish Journal.
Deputies evacuated several families from the immediate area as a precaution, and Mosswood Road was closed to traffic for a period of time following the rupture.
Residents in the area documented the physical impact of the blowout, sharing a photo of a 15-foot crater caused by the ruptured pipeline.
The intensity of the release was felt across a wide region, with residents in Jackson, Lincoln, and Ouachita Parishes reporting a loud roar or rumbling sound as gas spewed from the line.
Company Response and Status
The pipeline is managed by the Gulf South Pipeline Company, which is part of the Boardwalk Pipelines network of natural gas pipeline and storage facilities operating primarily in the southern United States.

Gulf South stated that its personnel detected the release from the natural gas pipeline at approximately 9:30 p.m. On May 14. The company immediately shut down the line.
Authorities have not yet provided the cause of the rupture. The pipeline will remain shut down until repairs are completed and all regulatory requirements are met.
