The UK government has agreed to underwrite a £1.5 billion loan guarantee for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to provide financial support to its extensive supply chain. This intervention comes as JLR continues to grapple with the fallout from a significant cyber attack that began at the end of August, forcing a complete halt to production.

Buisness Secretary Peter Kyle announced the loan, which will be provided by a commercial bank, emphasizing its importance in protecting jobs across the West Midlands, Merseyside, and the wider UK. The prolonged production shutdown has raised serious concerns about the financial viability of JLR’s suppliers, many of whom are small businesses.
