Roman Reaches 400 Wins at Caymanas Park

Two-time defending champion jockey Raddesh Roman achieved a significant milestone on Saturday, January 24, 2026, securing his 400th career win at Caymanas Park. The victory came aboard The Hot Dancer in the fifth race of the 11-race card.

The Hot Dancer, trained by Anthony “Baba” Nunes, won the three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming race by a commanding 9½ lengths. The race included native-bred six-year-olds and upward (non-winners of four), imported six-year-olds and upward, and native-bred five-year-old (non-winners of three) over five and a half furlongs (1,100m), finishing in a time of 1:07.4.

This win marked a high point in Roman’s career, a journey that has seen him develop “from a fledgling rider to a seasoned champion,” according to reports. Roman continued his successful day, adding two more victories to his tally. He won aboard Money Box for trainer Adrian Prince, and Fernando, also trained by Nunes.

Fernando’s victory came in the $1.1-million Rimksy Trophy over 6 furlongs (1,200m). Roman expressed his gratitude after the milestone win, stating, “It is a wonderful feeling to reach another milestone in my career.” He went on to thank “Father God, my agent, all the owners, trainers, grooms, and everybody that supported me throughout my career,” as reported by the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.

Roman’s success has been building in recent years, having captured riding championships in both 2024 and 2025, winning over 100 races each year. He attributes his recent form to increased maturity and a renewed focus. “The first part of my career, I was still toying and playing around,” Roman admitted. “But now I am much more mature and know what life is about. I’m taking it seriously, and look where I am now.”

The jockey’s 400th win comes as he sets his sights on a third consecutive jockeys’ title. He remains grounded despite his achievements, according to reports.
