“The ideology behind our new Year’s Eve celebration is welcoming the 5th century of Jakarta,” said andhika Permata, Head of the Jakarta tourism and Creative economy Office. “We will hold several activities to commemorate this special milestone.”
The festivities kick off early on December 31st with a series of ancient “napak tilas” tours. Residents and visitors can retrace Jakarta’s rich history by visiting iconic landmarks like the Jakarta Maritime Museum, Raja Kuring restaurant, Kota Intan Bridge, Jakarta History Museum, Ceramic Museum, and Beos station.
A unique “fortress of hope” will be erected, featuring a 500-meter-long white cloth where Jakartans can pen their aspirations for the future. This cloth will be unveiled on June 22, 2027, coinciding with Jakarta’s official 500th birthday.
“That’s one difference from other New Year’s Eve celebrations,” Permata noted.
Foodies and night owls can indulge in a bustling MSMEs bazaar and late-night shopping extravaganza along Jl. MH Thamrin Road to Jl. Jenderal Sudirman. The bazaar will offer a diverse array of culinary delights, perfect for those enjoying the city’s vibrant New Year’s Eve atmosphere.
As the night unfolds, 23 entertainment stages will come alive across the city, offering a diverse range of performances. Three stages will be hosted by private entities at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Ancol Dreamland, and City Vision, while the Jakarta provincial government will provide 20 stages, ensuring a city-wide celebration.
