A Fresh Start for Young Learners
Muhammad Azka Azri, a luminous 12-year-old, shared his palpable joy on his first day. “I am happy on the first orientation day,” he remarked. “I am now in a new school,seeing new rooms,and meeting a lot of new friends here.” This sentiment of excitement and anticipation was echoed by many of his peers, all eager to embrace the opportunities presented by Sekolah Rakyat.
Azka’s enthusiasm was particularly ignited by the school’s commitment to providing not just education, but a holistic learning habitat. “In my old school, I just studied and did nothing more,” he explained. “However, this school has complete facilities and a more advanced curriculum. We have routine study sessions and activities. We also got our own laptop.” The prospect of learning with modern tools and a well-rounded curriculum has clearly set a new standard for his educational aspirations.

The Sekolah Rakyat at Sentra Handayani, spread across a 1.5-hectare campus, boasts impressive facilities designed to foster both academic and personal growth. These include air-conditioned classrooms, separate boarding houses and dining areas for male and female students, and other essential supporting amenities. This thoughtful infrastructure ensures a comfortable and conducive learning environment for all students.
Azka is particularly looking forward to the communal aspects of life at Sekolah rakyat. “We wake up, perform the early morning prayer, exercise, take a bath, all with my friends,” he shared, highlighting the strong emphasis on character development and community building integrated into the daily routine.
Herlina Putri, another 12-year-old new student, mirrored Azka’s excitement. She expressed her motivation to study at the school,further amplified by the “proper facilities provided by her new school,including in classrooms and bathrooms.” The tangible improvements in the learning environment are clearly a significant draw for these young learners.
Expanding reach: A nationwide Initiative
The Sekolah Rakyat program is a significant national undertaking, with over 60 other Sekolah Rakyat units commencing their orientation period concurrently with the Sentra Handayani campus. An additional 37 units are slated to begin classes at the end of July, demonstrating the rapid and widespread implementation of this vital educational initiative.
At the boarding school, the curriculum is designed to be intensive yet enriching. students will attend classes from morning until afternoon, followed by dedicated character development sessions in the evening.
