Jake Paul Scores Unanimous Decision Over Julio César Chávez Jr.
ANAHEIM, Calif.- Jake Paul defeated former middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr.by unanimous decision Saturday night, prompting a defiant response to booing fans at the Honda Center.

Chávez (54-7-2), 39, appeared sluggish, launching few attacks until the later rounds. Despite his father’s encouragement from ringside, Chávez fought cautiously, allowing Paul to control the fight.
Chávez showed some aggression in the sixth and ninth rounds, but failed to inflict significant damage. Paul celebrated on the ropes after weathering Chávez’s final flurries in the tenth.

“I thought I lost the first five rounds,so I tried to win the last rounds,” Chávez said. “He’s strong, a good boxer (for) the first three, four rounds. After that, I felt he was tired. I don’t think he’s ready for the champions, but he’s a good fighter.”

Chávez, who has fought sparingly since 2021, has not lived up to his father’s legacy. Still, he represents the most experienced boxer to face Jake Paul, who is now several years into his boxing career.
