‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Controversy and Suspension
Borthwick’s exit follows a suspension from the BBC in June 2024 after a video surfaced appearing to show him using a disabled slur on the set of strictly Come Dancing.The incident occurred during his participation in the 2024 season of the show. He was partnered with professional dancer Nancy Xu.
Despite the suspension, borthwick and xu ultimately won the 2023 Strictly Christmas special, demonstrating his dancing ability. This win occurred prior to the allegations and subsequent suspension.
Wynne Evans Incident
This situation occurs alongside a separate incident involving Welsh opera singer and former BBC radio Wales presenter, Wynne Evans, 53.Evans was dropped by the BBC after issuing an apology for using “inappropriate language” during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour. According to The Sun, Evans clarified that the comment was a nickname for Borthwick and was not sexually motivated or directed at a female cast member.
