Hollywood star Jamie Foxx sustained injuries after being struck in the face with a glass during a birthday celebration at a Beverly Hills restaurant, according to his representative.
The incident occurred Friday night at the upscale Mr Chow restaurant. Foxx,who turned 57 on December 13,was reportedly celebrating with family,including his two daughters and former partner Kristin Grannis.
“Jamie had to get stitches and is recovering,” a representative told NBC News. ”Someone at another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. The matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
Beverly hills Police Department (BHPD) responded to a call around 10 p.m. local time reporting a “possible assault with a deadly weapon.” Upon arrival, officers determined the incident was a “physical altercation between parties” and deemed the initial report “unfounded.”
While BHPD did not name Foxx in their official statement, sources confirmed to TMZ that the actor was involved in the altercation. No arrests have been made.
This incident comes just weeks after Foxx opened up about his health struggles in his new Netflix special, “What Had Happened Was…”. In the special, he detailed his experience with a brain bleed and subsequent stroke last year, which required surgery and extensive rehabilitation.
