Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg Honored at BET Awards
The 2025 BET Awards celebrated it’s 25th anniversary by bestowing its ultimate Icon Award on Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Franklin, and Snoop Dogg. The ceremony also featured a reunion of the show 106 & Park.
Kevin Hart hosted the event, billed as “Culture’s Biggest Night,” which recognized the honorees for their contributions to music, entertainment, advocacy, and community impact. Carey performed her latest single, “Type Risky.” Stevie Wonder surprised Foxx during his tribute. Snoop Dogg, introduced by Dr. Dre, delivered a medley of his hits, while Kirk Franklin closed the show with a gospel performance.

Snoop Dogg, upon receiving his award, shared his thoughts on being an icon. “Being an icon ain’t about fame, it’s about legacy. It’s about what you build, what you leave behind, and who you lift up along the way,” he said before performing hits like “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Nuthin’ but a G’thang.”
Kirk Franklin, during his acceptance speech, thanked those who helped him. “I’m not person. I fail, I sin, I’m not a perfect Christian, I’m not a perfect husband, and we all know I’m not a perfect father. I’m not even a perfect artist, which makes this award even more amazing, because what I do don’t even make sense,” he said. “And if you’re listening to this, that’s how you know it’s God, when it don’t makes sense.” He then performed “Stomp,” “Silver & Gold,” and “Melodies From Heaven.”
