Las Vegas – Janet Jackson, a celebrated figure in pop and R&B, was presented with the Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards. The ceremony took place at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
Marking her first television appearance in seven years,Jackson delivered a performance featuring her hits “someone to Call My Lover” and “All for You.” Backed by a live band and dancers, Jackson showcased her signature dance moves in a Vetements denim outfit.
Actress Tasha Smith presented Jackson with the Icon Award. In her acceptance speech, Jackson expressed gratitude. She emphasized that her family’s love for music, dance, and singing, rather then a pursuit of fame, led to her success. She also acknowledged the role of hard work and dedication in her career.
“I am so, so honored. I am so grateful… I don’t consider myself an icon… As of you and God, I’m standing right here.”
