The Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunity Alliance (TEDIBOA) and the Japan Drone Consortium (JDC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance drone technology cooperation and establish a non-red
supply chain within the drone industry.
The partnership was facilitated by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), which aims to leverage the respective strengths of Taiwan and Japan to reduce reliance on existing supply chain dominances.
The cooperation agreement focuses on several key operational areas, including autonomous flight testing, emergency response and disaster prevention.
ITRI President Edwin Liu stated that the institute serves as a key driver for TEDIBOA, with a mission to integrate drone technology into global supply chains and facilitate business matchmaking between domestic and international firms.
We are pleased to have facilitated the signing of an MoU between TEDIBOA and JDC. This agreement commences a strategic partnership on the joint development of critical drone technologies. It is a significant milestone and the first step toward broader, long-term collaboration.
Edwin Liu, ITRI President
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to elevate the global presence of Taiwan’s drone sector. Hsiu-Hui Wu, co-chair of TEDIBOA, noted that the alliance intends to attract top-tier global drone companies and build connections through participation in exhibitions across Europe and the United States.
Wu described the partnership with the JDC, which is the largest drone consortium in Japan, as a successful example of this international outreach.
Kenzo Nonami, President of the Japan Drone Consortium, emphasized the opportunities created by the restructuring of supply chains and the potential for drone cooperation between the two nations.
The collaboration seeks to combine Taiwan’s manufacturing and integration capabilities with Japan’s industrial strengths to create a resilient technological ecosystem for unmanned aerial vehicles.
