The Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships 2024 (Japan/Tokyo, hard, ATP500) has announced its wildcard entries for the singles main tournament. Kei Nishikori, Yoshihito Nishioka, and Shintaro Mochizuki will participate in the tournament as wildcards.
Kei Nishikori’s Recent Performance
Nishikori, 34 years old and ranked 201st in the world, will be competing in the tournament for the first time in six years since 2018. He won the tournament in 2012 and 2014. Nishikori had entered the tournament as a reserve player using the protected ranking, but it was announced from the start that he would be given a wild card if he was not promoted.
Other Wildcard Entries
In addition to Nishikori, wildcards were given to Nishioka, 28 years old and currently ranked 54th in the world, the top Japanese player, and Mochizuki, 21 years old and ranked 147th in the world, who made it to the semi-finals of the same tournament last year.
Recent Team Performance
Nishikori, Nishioka, and Mochizuki represented Japan in the Davis Cup World Group 1 match between Japan and Colombia (Japan/Tokyo, Ariake Coliseum, hard), in which Japan won on the 14th and 15th.
Upcoming Tournaments
All three players will compete in a tour tournament in China this week before competing in the Japan Open next week.

The Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships 2024 will be broadcast live on WOWOW from September 25th to October 1st. The first day of the tournament will be broadcast free of charge and live streamed.
