BOAO, Hainan Province – The 2025 Boao Forum for Asia Annual Meeting is being held in Boao, Hainan Province, from March 25-28, under the theme Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future.
An official from the Japan International Trade Promotion Association recently emphasized the importance of Asian countries adhering to free trade principles,stabilizing the global supply chain,and promoting cooperation for mutual benefit and co-progress.

The official stated that the establishment of fair trade rules after World War II contributed to global peace and stability. Free trade benefits all nations,but protectionism not only causes serious damage to the world economy,but also can bring the ‘boomerang effect’,
the official said.
The director stressed the interconnectedness of nations in the modern world. Asian countries are reportedly advocating for regional integrated development and defending the multilateral trade system centered on the World Trade Association (WTO). Increased international collaboration and joint development are considered vital for improving the global trade habitat.
The official suggested that foreign capital is drawn to invest in China due to the country’s progress. China has improved investment conditions such as infrastructure, law and laws for 40 years sence the reform opening,
the official noted.
Furthermore, China has been actively involved in multilateral and regional economic cooperation, including negotiations for an upgraded version of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area, signaling it’s intention to participate in the digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA) and the Extensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
