Italian motorsport engineering specialist JAS Motorsport and design house Pininfarina have developed the JAS Tensei, a limited-edition restomod based on the first-generation Honda NSX featuring a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 engine and a six-speed manual gearbox, Autopunditz reported. Just 35 examples will be produced worldwide, pairing lightweight carbon-fibre bodywork with race-inspired engineering in a traditional performance package.
JAS Tensei Revives the First-Generation NSX
First introduced in 1990, the original Honda NSX challenged European supercars with lightweight aluminium construction, a mid-mounted naturally aspirated V6, and everyday usability. The new JAS Tensei builds directly on that first-generation platform rather than replacing it with a new factory chassis. Autopunditz noted that the project takes its name from the Japanese word for rebirth, preserving the original character while introducing modern engineering and craftsmanship.
JAS Motorsport managed the mechanical development, while Pininfarina handled exterior and interior styling. Yahoo Autos and Autocar India added that production and final assembly will take place at JAS Motorsport’s facility near Milan, Italy, with European media reports estimating pricing at approximately €880,000 excluding the donor vehicle, taxes, and optional personalisation. Team-BHP noted that the second-generation NSX went out of production in 2022, prompting JAS Motorsport to revive the icon.
Judd Power Reengineers the V6 Up to 425 Horsepower
The mechanical transformation centers on a heavily reworked version of Honda’s original C30A V6 engine. British engineering company JUDD Power rebuilt the unit, increasing displacement from 3.0 litres to 3.5 litres, according to Autopunditz. Team-BHP reported a claimed output of 420 BHP, while Autopunditz and AOL.com cite approximately 425 hp, featuring an 8,500 rpm redline, individual throttle bodies, and a dry-sump lubrication system.
Power transfers exclusively to the rear wheels through a six-speed H-pattern manual gearbox supported by a twin-plate carbon clutch and a mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential. Team-BHP and AOL.com noted the inclusion of a light mid-weight design flywheel and a billet crankshaft. The absence of turbochargers or hybrid assistance sets the car apart from modern performance vehicles increasingly dependent on electrification.
Pininfarina Sculpts Carbon-Fibre Bodywork to Reduce Weight
Pininfarina replaced the original aluminium exterior panels with bespoke carbon-fibre components, including fenders, bumpers, hood, doors, and rear bodywork. Autocar India reported that the roof remains untouched while the A- and B-pillars feature a more raked profile. Yahoo Autos noted the retention of the original pop-up headlights with modern LED technology alongside a carbon-fibre flat floor, front splitter, and rear diffuser.

The extensive use of lightweight materials helps achieve a claimed dry weight of approximately 1,250 kg, or 2,756 pounds. Autocar India pointed out that the wheels grew significantly from 15 and 16 inches on the original NSX to 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. AOL.com added that the car receives center-lock wheels, adjustable dampers, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Competition-Derived Suspension and Bespoke Interior Upgrades
JAS Motorsport incorporated competition-derived technologies to match the increased engine output, reinforcing the chassis and revising suspension geometry. Yahoo Autos reported that stopping power comes from Brembo brakes featuring six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers, complemented by optional CCM-R carbon ceramic brakes and a hydraulic front-axle lift system noted by Team-BHP and Autocar India.
Inside the cabin, Pininfarina avoided large touchscreens in favor of a driver-oriented layout featuring premium materials, carbon-fibre detailing, modern digital instrumentation, and a numbered limited-edition chassis badge behind the manual shifter. Team-BHP and Yahoo Autos confirmed that customers will have extensive personalization options for upholstery materials, colors, and exterior finishes.
Public Debut Slated for the 2026 Paris Motor Show
The JAS Tensei is expected to make its public appearance at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, according to Yahoo Autos. With production restricted to 35 individually customized examples, the vehicle is aimed at international collectors and enthusiasts seeking a purer driving experience. Autopunditz confirmed that there is currently no confirmed India-specific launch, distribution, or allocation plan for the project.
